Fund a Song

More lubrication

Been a bit unwell for a while and my throat has suffered so singing sounds like a cross between Frank Carson and a sex change.

The dust settles

OK, now that I have a new bathroom and the immense dust has been cleaned from my studio, I can finish this song, so hoping to get close to a final mix down after recording the voice tracks.  Years and years ago I used to record voice in the bathroom as the acoustics were better. My new shower head looks a bit like a microphone so maybe I'll give it a shot.

Water music

There's another lull in progress for a week or so while some building work is carried out near my studio. It's not easy to practice vocals anyway when there's a builders crack looking at you, it just causes bum notes.

Tight Fit

Now about 90 per cent through the recording, there's vocals and harmonies left as well as mixdown and general tweaking. Got to buy a pop-shield as my old one is broken. A pop-shield is one of those things that goes over the microphone that looks like a lolly pop, designed to cut breathy pop noises. Years ago you could use a pair of ladies tights stretched over a circular wire, but I don't want to waste a pair of my tights so will buy one.

Big Turn Off

About 70 percent through the song now. Had a busy schedule with my other passion: cooking. This cookery course I'm taking is just as demanding. Been practicing the vocals for the song. Every time I hear Chasing Cars on the radio I turn it off though!

Strings attached

Subtle string sounds have now been added to the track to compliment the piano track. This gives me an opportunity to practice the vocal too; much to the disgust of the neighbours and local dogs.

Getting laid

The piano track has been laid, ready for other instruments and vocals. I've managed to get some free time to do this in between shopping and drinking for Christmas.
